Neville Predicts How Liverpool Will Fare In Their Attempts To Finish Top This Season

Gary Neville believes Liverpool will be in a two-horse race for the Premier League title with Manchester City once again this campaign following their 3-1 win against Arsenal.

The Reds were very impressive in patches in the home victory versus the Gunners and Neville thinks the Merseyside club will go all out to clinch the league this season:

“The Premier League is the holy grail for Liverpool, they haven’t won it for such a long time. It’s gonna be City and them again I think. When you watch the first few weeks of the season, they look like both of them are in the same type of form, both of them are not gonna let go.”

“And I have to say, from Liverpool’s point of view today that’s a really impressive performance. Periods of the game, the start of the game, start of the second half, not just the start of the second half, the first 20 minutes of the second half, it was absolutely electric football.”

Neville doesn’t make it clear if he believes the Reds will finally lift the league title after a 30-year wait but he has no doubt that Jurgen Klopp’s side will be there or thereabouts.

Liverpool face Burnley on Sunday before the players go away on international duty. Klopp will be hoping that his players come back unscathed with a number of challenging fixtures coming up in the next couple of months.

On their return, the Reds will play Newcastle at home before facing Chelsea away at Stamford Bridge. They then have Manchester City, Tottenham and Manchester City to face in short space of time at the end of October and the start of November.
