Owen Predicts Tight Contest For Liverpool’s Clash Against Chelsea

Anfield Stadium

Former Liverpool forward Michael Owen believes the Reds will have to battle to get the three points against Chelsea on Sunday.

Both teams head into the encounter off the back of losses in the Champions League, but while the Reds were unlucky to be beaten away at Napoli, the Blues succumbed to a home defeat to crisis-ridden Valencia. Still, Owen thinks the UEFA Super Cup final shows there isn’t a big gap between the two teams:

“There was little between the sides in the European Super Cup in Istanbul last month, and I don’t expect there will be much between the sides at Stamford Bridge although I do think the Reds will gain their 15th successive league win.”

“It promises to be an absolute cracker, but Liverpool are taken to maintain their perfect start to the domestic season.”

It will be interesting to see how many changes manager Jurgen Klopp will make for the game this weekend. There are five days between the Champions League match and the clash at Stamford Bridge so he may opt for only one or two changes to his personnel.

You would expect Georginio Wijnaldum to come in for James Milner in midfield but other than that, it could be the same side that lost in Naples.
