“Really Special” Klopp Can’t Believe The Standards That One Liverpool Star Is Setting

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has singled out Alisson Becker for praise after the Reds kept another clean sheet in the 4-0 win over Southampton yesterday.

The Merseysiders may have won convincingly on the day but the Saints were in the match for the best part of 47 minutes before Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored the opening goal.

Alisson made a number of saves in the first half, in particular, and Klopp has hailed the Brazilian for yet another outstanding display:

“Today, for example, Southampton had absolutely too many shots and finishes, but what Ali is doing with these finishes, I have no clue how he is doing it. It looks always at the end like it was not a good finish, but I think the finishes were pretty good, just Ali was there. That is really special.”

The 27-year-old has conceded just six goals in 17 Premier League games, keeping nine clean sheets in the process. His ability not only to pull off great saves but also to make the majority look easy is a testament to both his positioning and concentration.

Goalkeepers at top clubs don’t generally have much to do, but the best ones are those who can make saves after lengthy spells of inaction. Alisson is certainly playing his part as Liverpool continue their remarkable unbeaten run.
