Liverpool have “made an offer” worth an initial £53m (plus £7m in add-ons) for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, according to Futbol Total.
The Spanish rumour mongers claim that they have confirmed information, first revealed on the Talk of the Kop podcast, that the Reds have tabled an official bid for the Dutch international:

If the report is accurate, the proposal would be substantially below the €85m (£72m) fee that Manchester United agreed with Barca for de Jong earlier in the summer.
While the Red Devils are thought to have pulled out of the deal following their decision to sign Casemiro from Real Madrid, Chelsea are still said to be in the running to sign de Jong.
It should be pointed out that no trusted source in the UK or Spain have verified these claims so supporters would be wise to take this report from Futbol Total with a large pinch of salt.
