REPORT: Liverpool May Consider Shock Free Transfer Move For Ex United Flop

Liverpool could make a move for Lyon forward Memphis Depay in the summer, according to French website Jeunes Footeux.

The Netherlands international will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season when his contract expires and a swoop for the former Manchester United player may be considered by the Reds.

Depay has been linked with the Premier League champions in the past and, at 26 years of age, he would certainly represent value for money in terms of re-sale if the switch doesn’t work out.

This season, the Dutchman has scored an impressive 13 goals and contributed six assists in 24 league appearances for Lyon, which demonstrates he could add some extra firepower to Liverpool’s forward line.

The likes of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have struggled for form this campaign and manager Jurgen Klopp may see Depay as a cheap solution up front. He did, however, struggle during his last spell in England and whether that will play any part in deciding to go after the player, we shall have to wait and see.
