Salah “100% deserves” PFA Player of the Year award says Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he believes Mohamed Salah “100% deserves” to win the PFA Player of the Year award.

The Egyptian, who joined the Reds in the summer from AS Roma, is currently the Premier League’s top scorer with 29 goals, and has 37 in all competitions for Klopp’s side.

The former Chelsea star has blown supporters away with his sensational performances throughout the season – the highlights including a four-goal haul against Watford last month and a Man of the Match display in Liverpool’s 4-3 win over Manchester City in January.

And Klopp says his displays throughout the season warrant the 25-year-old scooping England’s most prestigious individual prize.

“I think Mo would deserve it 100%,” Klopp said. “As his manager, I’d say: ‘Come on, prove it by playing at this level for the rest of the season.’

“That’s how it is. Both players have played an outstanding season with obvious highlights: scoring goals, creating chances, which is what everyone wants to see.”

Klopp however says despite believing Salah should win the award, he will without doubt face strong competition from Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, who has been the star player for Pep Guardiola’s side on their march to the league and domestic cup double.

“I am happy that I don’t have to make this decision.,” he continued, “Yes, Mo would deserve it but if I said now that Kevin De Bruyne should have no chance I’d be lying. He’s a fantastic player and City will be champions so he has a trophy. Maybe we can at least win the other one.”
