Serie A Giants Waiting To Pounce If Liverpool Fail To Tie Up Deal For £26m Rated Dutchman

Inter Milan are interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Georgino Wijnaldum, according to reports in the Italian media. The Nerazzurri are said to be waiting in the wings to see if the Dutchman signs a new contract at Anfield.

The 29-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of next season and Inter believe they could snap him up for around €30m (£26m) when the transfer window reopens if he doesn’t agree to fresh terms.

Liverpool are still believed to be in the driving seat, with an improved contract for Wijnaldum reportedly the likeliest outcome at the moment.

The Dutch international has been with the Reds for almost four years, having signed from Newcastle for £25m in 2016. He has become an important first-team player under manager Jurgen Klopp.

Wijnaldum’s departure would be a major setback for the Liverpool boss, and there is likely to be renewed focus on tieing the player down for the long term following Inter’s reported interest.
