Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has been paying tribute to Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

The pair are teammates for Brazil and Martinelli says that, when he comes up against the 30-year-old in training, he finds it “difficult” to score in one v one situations:

“Yeah, he’s so good. When I went to the national team last time, when we played against Japan and South Korea, I remember when we were in training and I came one v one with him and it’s so difficult, he’s so big.”

Alisson started most of the World Cup qualifiers, as well as the friendlies during the last international break, so he is expected to be selected ahead of Ederson in the first group game against Serbia in Qatar next week.

The keeper has been in outstanding form at club level, with the Reds having to rely on him on a number of occasions during the 3-1 win over Southampton at the weekend.

While fans will be hoping that Alisson does have a successful World Cup, most will be keen for Brazil to bow out of the competition quite early so he will be available for the next Premier League match against Aston Villa on Boxing Day.
