Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said he greatly admires Liverpool forward Mo Salah, comparing him in flattering terms to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Egyptian international has never been linked with a move to the Bundesliga giants but Rummenigge opted to express his admiration for the 28-year-old in a recent interview when he said:
“What he [Salah] has achieved can be compared to what Messi and Ronaldo did with Barcelona and Real Madrid. At the moment we don’t plan on signing Salah, but certainly, it would be an honour to have him.”
Salah has been in excellent form this season, scoring 22 goals in all competitions, and supporters on Twitter have told Bayern to look elsewhere for potential signings:

He’s still the highest goal scorer in this season Premier League and his services still needed.

Bayern have been known to publicly court potential transfer targets. The German club were very vocal in their pursuit of Manchester City’s Leroy Sane last summer.
However, Rummenigge’s comments are unlikely to be a genuine attempt to unsettle Salah. It seems to be the case that the Bayern chief is simply stating that he is a fan of the player, rather than anything more sinister than that.
