Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas provided two assists as the Reds progressed to the semi-finals of the Champions League with a lively 3-3 draw against Benfica yesterday evening.
Manager Jurgen Klopp rang the changes ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City, with Tsimikas one of the main beneficiaries, coming in for Andy Robertson who was rested.
The Greek international was awarded the man of the match for his performance on the night, and supporters on Twitter were full of praise for the fullback after the game:
Such a talent! We need another like him to cover right back…

Tsimikas has been excellent when Klopp has called upon him this season. While he is great going forward, as we saw for the deliveries for Ibrahima Konate and Roberto Firmino’s goals, he is also tenacious in his defending.
While Klopp does clearly still see the 25-year-old as an understudy to Robertson, the defender is certainly putting his case forward for starting games on a more regular basis.
