“There’s Possibly Room…” Pundit Claims Liverpool Could Be Targeting Chelsea Flop As Mane’s Replacement

Liverpool may consider a move for Chelsea forward Timo Werner as the Reds seek a replacement for Sadio Mane, according to Alan Hutton.

The former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender was reacting to rumours that Jurgen Klopp’s side could make a bid for the German international, when he said that Werner does possess the qualities needed to take up Mane’s role in the team:

“I think Werner can bring something with his pace and his trickery. I think he could fit into the system. I think if you look at the way Liverpool have played over the years Klopp has been there, he likes that type of winger coming in from the side of the pitch and I think that’s where he’s better.”

“I don’t think Werner’s an out and out number nine to me, I think he misses too many opportunities but he’s a problem out on the wing, he’s a problem for defenders, the way (Sadio) Mane was and obviously with him leaving there’s possibly room.”

Reports suggest Werner is likely to be on the move this summer, with it being claimed that he has already been offered to Juventus in part exchange for Matthijs de Ligt, but It is very doubtful that Liverpool are actually interested in the striker.

They did pursue the 26-year-old two years ago before the player opted to make the switch to Stamford Bridge instead. However, they have already signed Darwin Nunez for a club-record fee this summer, and they brought in Luis Diaz during the January transfer window.
