Thierry Henry Delivers Verdict On Whether Jurgen Klopp Should Leave Liverpool

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes it is not time for Jurgen Klopp to leave the club despite Liverpool’s embarrassing 5-2 home defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday evening.

The Reds got off to a bright start but things quickly unravelled at Anfield. Asked to assess what needs to be done for the Merseyside club to get back to their best, Henry said:

“They are fragile and some things need to change. I don’t think Jurgen Klopp needs to go but some players don’t have the level anymore to play for Liverpool. It happens to the best, it happened to me. It’s the end of an era.”

“I’m not having a go at Liverpool. They are not playing well they are conceding a lot. We all love what they have done recently. It’s a tough one, they are conceding five at home and getting outplayed.”

“When I see a guy like Luka Modric at his age getting the ball and bursting forward in midfield like they were not there and passing the ball to Vinicius and Vinicius passing the ball to Benzema and him toying with the keeper, I just think that is not good enough that team gave us so much. But right now they are not good so they need to reinvent themselves and keep their head up until the end of the season.”

A combination of individual errors and poor pressing led to Liverpool’s capitulation, and it’s symptomatic of a season that has left many supporters wondering what the future holds.

There will inevitably be a clearout of the first-team squad at the end of the campaign, but there are questions for Klopp to answer as well.

The dropoff in performances since the start of the seasob has been alarming, and the defeat to Real will inevitably hit morale just at the time that there was increased optimism about a top-four finish. A strong end to the campaign is now vital.
