“This Kid Could Be A Superstar” Murphy Excited By Possible Liverpool Signing

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy is backing Harvey Elliott to be a success at the Reds if he signs for the Merseyside club.

The 16-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield following the end of his scholarship contract at Fulham.

Murphy, who also played for the Cottagers, has seen Elliott play and he thinks he could turn into an outstanding player:

“It might not transpire this summer, but in the next couple of seasons, I would imagine they’re hoping he develops to get some first-team action. He’s a great dribbler, he’s very sharp and he’s got good feet.”

“He could play in one of those front three roles, that’s probably where we’d see him get his go. We’ll probably see him in a cup competition this season. I think this kid could be a superstar and if he has got the talent to do it, he’s at the right place.”

RB Leipzig, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have all reportedly tried to sign the England Under 17 international but it appears Liverpool have won the race for his signature.

Elliott is expected to train with the first team at Melwood, rather than be sent to Kirkby to train with the Under 18s or the Under 23s.

It is believed that manager Jurgen Klopp thinks the midfielder could learn a lot more by training with the senior side, much like the club’s first summer signing Sepp van den Berg.
