Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Alexis Mac Allister will be available for the game against Chelsea.
The Argentinian international sat out the 5-2 win over Norwich City with a knock but he has been cleared to play on Wednesday night. Mo Salah has, though, been ruled out, as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.
In terms of the starting lineup, Alisson Becker will start in goal, while Trent Alexander-Arnold may be recalled after recovering from a knee problem. The fullback could replace Conor Bradley, who has performed ably in recent games.
Andy Robertson is also back in contention, having been given some minutes against Norwich. However, the Scotland captain has been out for several months, so Joe Gomez may well keep his place on the left-hand side of defence. Captain Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are expected to be the two centre-backs.
Dominik Szoboszlai has returned to fitness so the Hungarian international could line up alongside Mac Allister and Curtis Jones in midfield, with Harvey Elliott having to settle for a place on the bench.
Salah’s continued absence means Klopp will have to choose between four forwards, instead of five, for the front three positions. Luis Diaz has been favoured in the big games, despite his inconsistent form, and the Colombian will likely start on the left wing.
Darwin Nunez could be given the nod to play through the middle, with Diogo Jota on the right-hand side of the attack. Cody Gakpo will, therefore, have to make an impact as a substitute.
