Liverpool defender Joel Matip put in another excellent performance in the Champions League final.
Alongside Virgil van Dijk, the centre-back pairing kept Tottenham at bay, playing a key role in keeping a clean sheet on the night.

Certainly, many Liverpool fans had almost written off the 27-year-old at the start of the season. He was very much fourth choice and had to bide his time for first-team chances.
Joe Gomez was van Dijk’s main partner in the opening months of the season while he had to stay patient after he suffered a broken collarbone that kept out of action for over a month.
However, on his return, Matip’s form in the second half of the season was top drawer. The centre-back only missed four games in all competitions after recovering from injury.
With his contract expiring next summer, most supporters will be wanting him to stay for much longer.
