‘Would Be A Fantastic Signing’ Murphy Backing Liverpool To Make Move For La Liga Speedster

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy believes the Reds should pursue Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele.

There have been numerous reports that the Merseyside club may consider a bid for the Frenchman’s teammate, Philippe Coutinho, but Murphy believes Dembele could make the front three even more threatening:

“Dembele would be a fantastic signing for Liverpool. He’s not had the best time at Barcelona, but clearly has an abundance of talent and the ability to win games by himself.”

“If he can recapture his belief in his ability, then Liverpool would have a formidable front three with him, Mane and Salah.”

Antoine Griezmann’s arrival at the Camp Nou will have pushed Dembele down the pecking order, while the Catalan club’s pursuit of Neymar may see them try to offload one or two players to free up funds.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has, however, tried to play down any reports that Liverpool will make some big-name signings this summer.

Despite having let Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno leave on free transfers, the Reds seem content on finding solutions internally and promoting youth players like Rhian Brewster to the first team squad.

Whether Liverpool will live to regret not adding to their squad, and increasing their depth as they play in seven different competitions next season, we shall have to wait and see.
