Atalanta centre-back Giorgio Scalvini says he is flattered by reports linking him with the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
The 19-year-old, who is already a fully-fledged Italian international, is said to have a big future in the game and, while the defender admits it is “nice” that other teams are interested in him, he claims he is completely focused on Atalanta:
“It may be nice [to see the reports], but I’m just reading [them] in passing. I’m concentrated here, at Atalanta. None of us can know what the future holds for me, I just have to think about doing well at Atalanta.”
Reports in recent months have suggested that Atalanta could part ways with Scalvini for €40m (£35m), but his value is likely to skyrocket very quickly as he establishes himself as a regular starter.
The teenager has made 28 appearances in all competitions so far this campaign, starting 25 matches in total. He has been part of a defence that has conceded 37 times, which is the seventh-best record in Serie A.
Liverpool are likely to be in the market for a centre-half. They have been mentioned as potential suitors for RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol and Chelsea’s Levi Colwill, among others, but Scalvini would probably be a more realistic target.
