Liverpool are one of nine Premier League teams who are weighing up a move for Real Valladolid fullback Ivan Fresneda, according to reports in Spain.
The 18-year-old is also being tracked by the likes of Everton, Arsenal, Newcastle, Leeds, Brentford, Fulham, Southampton and Wolves after putting in some impressive performances.
Considering Fresneda is a right-back and the Reds have recently recruited Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen, fans on Twitter are sceptical about the club’s interest in the teenager:
Another one? We bought Ramsay in the summer

We bought Calvin Ramsay, it would make no sense unless Trent was leaving

One of the main reasons why there could be a scramble for Fresneda’s signature in January is due to a clause in his contract.
The defender‘s current buyout fee is set at €30m (£26m) but that will rise to €45m (£39m) if he makes 13 more senior appearances. Considering he was starting regularly for Valladolid before the World Cup, there is every chance he will reach that milestone before the summer. With that being the case, offers are likely to be submitted next month so it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will get involved.
