“At The Moment…” Romano Provides Transfer Update As Liverpool Are Tipped To Revive Move For 32 Cap Midfielder

Liverpool are not expected to reignite their interest in Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Reports in the French media over the past few days have suggested that both the Reds and Chelsea were keeping tabs on the player, but Romano has dismissed those claims:

“At the moment, it’s [a] quiet situation, nothing imminent or advanced with any big club. He was on Liverpool’s list two years ago, now it’s gone quiet and priorities are different. I think he’s [a] very good player but needs to be more consistent to get a top move.”

Manager Jurgen Klopp has said he is a fan of Berge in the past, but that was before the 24-year-old made the switch to Bramall Lane back in 2020.

The Norwegian, who has been capped 32 times by his country, is a key player for the Blades, but it appears that Liverpool are looking at other options to strengthen their midfield.

Fiorentina’s Sofyan Ambrabat has been heavily linked over the past couple of weeks, while the likes of Valencia’s Yunus Musah, Benfica’s Enzo Fernandez and Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus have also been mentioned as possible targets. It looks as if Berge’s chance of securing a move to Anfield has passed him by.
