Confirmed Fixture Change Set To Impact Liverpool’s Carabao Cup Final Preparations

The Premier League have confirmed that Liverpool’s home match with Leeds will now be played on Wednesday, February 23rd.

The fixture was originally scheduled for Boxing Day but had to be postponed after Leeds didn’t have enough available players to take part in the game.

Chelsea, the team that the Reds will face in the Carabao Cup final on February 27th, already had a midweek fixture, as they are facing Lille in the Champions League last 16 tie on the Tuesday.

However, with Liverpool now playing their rearranged fixture on Wednesday, it means manager Jurgen Klopp will have one less day than his opponents to prepare.

It’s hardly ideal as Klopp would have liked to have had a full week leading into the showpiece event at Wembley but fixture congestion means that there aren’t many other dates where the Leeds match can be played. Hopefully, it doesn’t affect the result of either game.
