While Alisson Becker’s stunning last-minute winner deservedly grabbed all the headlines yesterday, it did somewhat overshadow the display of Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
The Spaniard has come in for a lot of criticism for his performances this season but supporters on Twitter believe he was the Reds’ standout performer at the Hawthorns:
Finally up to speed in the prem. First class from him today. Brilliant.

To be honest, yesterday’s display from Thiago was what many fans were expecting to see from the 30-year-old on a regular basis, but there have been a number of mitigating circumstances as to why we haven’t witnessed those types of performances more often.
It’s clear that he struggled to find his form after recovering from a knee injury which kept him out for over two months. There is also the fact that he is playing in a side that has been ravaged by injuries so getting on the same wavelength with his teammates has not been easy.
Hopefully, Thiago’s display against the Baggies yesterday is just the start of things for him at Liverpool.
