James Milner Names 4 Current Liverpool Players As He Lists His All Time Best XI Teammates

Liverpool vice-captain James Milner has included Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold Virgil van Dijk and Roberto Firmino in the best eleven players he has played with.

The Reds stars were named alongside former Leeds defender Jonathan Woodgate, ex Chelsea and England left-back Ashley Cole, as well as the likes of former City midfielder David Silva, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Alan Shearer and Sergio Aguero.

Milner also went with three substitutes in ex-United stars Rio Ferdinand and David Beckham, as well as current teammate Sadio Mane. Mo Salah was, however, a surprising omission, having not even made the bench.

Of course, Milner’s views are very much his own, and the inclusion of Firmino in his eleven does give us an insight into what he values most as a footballer. When explaining the selection of the Brazilian, Milner cited both his work ethic and skill:

“His work-rate without the ball is something else, but his ability with the ball at his feet gets him into my line-up.”

Even without Salah, the eleven picked by Milner is a formidable lineup, and it just shows you how many quality players he has played alongside in his two decades as a professional footballer.
