REPORT: Liverpool Are ‘Admirers’ Of Highly-Rated Premier League Winger

Liverpool ‘admire’ West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen amid rumours that they may be interested in a transfer for the player, according a report from The Athletic.

The Athletic comment that Liverpool have been monitoring Bowen ‘for a number of seasons’. However, whether they will choose to make a move for the 26-year-old remains to be seen.

Who else has been linked with a move for Jarrod Bowen?

Liverpool are not the only club who have a reported interest in the Hammers star – during the summer transfer window, Bowen was linked with a potential switch to Tottenham Hotspur [via LondonWorld].

As such, should the Reds pursue a move for Bowen, they might not be alone in their quest – however, since Spurs completed a transfer for James Maddison from Leicester City, it is possible that their interest in the player may have cooled off.

Where would Jarrod Bowen fit into the Liverpool squad?

Being a left-footed wide player with excellent dribbling ability and magnetic ball control, Bowen is best suited to playing on the right wing.

Of course, this poses an immediate issue – Liverpool already have a superlatively talented right-winger in the form of Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian is simply too important to leave out of the squad – meaning Bowen would likely be used as a backup if the Reds choose to make a move for him.

With this being said, Salah’s time at Liverpool could now be limited. In the summer transfer window, he was the subject of big-money interest from various teams in the Saudi Pro League – while they failed to reach an agreement with the Reds this time, it is likely that they will attempt to bring the 31-year-old to the Middle East once again in January.

In the scenario where Salah leaves Liverpool, they must have a contingency plan in place. While bringing Bowen on board will not be enough to plug the gaps he will leave behind, it will be a great place to start.

Liverpool seem to have made their stance clear regarding Salah’s availability – he is not for sale. As we have seen many times in the past, however, everyone has a price in the world of modern football.
