Kyle Walker Pays Klopp’s Liverpool Side A Massive Compliment As He Compares Them To Great United And Arsenal Teams

Manchester City fullback Kyle Walker believes the recent rivalry between his club and Liverpool has created two of the best teams in Premier League history.

When asked whether he believes that the two clubs have proved they are up there with the top sides of the Premier League era, Walker replied:

“I think it is [the case] in terms of the standard of football. That’s no disrespect to the Arsenal team that was fantastic or the Manchester United team that was fantastic and won numerous leagues. I think the football and the standard of football and the standard of players coming to the league now is fantastic. It’s fantastic for the neutrals, do I wish we ran away with it every year? Of course I do, but I think it’s fantastic for the English Premier League.”

You only have to look at the stats to demonstrate why Walker is correct in what he says. The top three league points totals from the last thirty years have been recorded by Liverpool or City in the past five seasons.

City won the title with 100 points in 2017, they then went on to record a total of 98 in 2019, while a year later, the Reds reached 99.

In terms of winning streaks, City and Liverpool hold the TOP FIVE positions. The record is held jointly by the two clubs who have both won 18 league games in a row over the past five years.

Guardiola and Klopp have also had other winning runs which have seen them record 17 and 15 victories on the bounce on three other occasions.
