Liverpool Handed Major Boost In Attempts To Seal £44m Transfer

Lyon could be forced to sell Houssem Aouar this summer, according to reports in the French media. The Ligue One side have failed to qualify for Europe, and they will need to make up the shortfall with player sales.

It is believed that the France Under 21 international, and his teammates Moussa Dembele and Memphis Depay, have all been made available for transfer, with Lyon needing to sell at least two of them.

Aouar’s price tag is believed to be €50m (£44m) with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal said to be interested in signing the 21-year-old

Lyon may have to settle for a figure below that amount, in light of the current global situation, but it remains to be seen if the Reds will make a formal bid for the Frenchman.

The Merseyside club have been linked with a number of midfielders in recent weeks with the future of Georginio Wijnaldum most likely influencing their thinking. The Dutchman’s contract expires in 2021.
