Latest Liverpool Injury News: Updates On Robertson, Gakpo And 3 Other Players

Liverpool fullback Andy Robertson could need surgery on a dislocated shoulder.

The 29-year-old sustained the injury playing for Scotland against Spain last week and he may face months on the sidelines.

Cody Gakpo is already out of his brace following the knee injury he picked up in the 2-1 defeat to Tottenham at the end of last month.

The initial estimate was that the Dutchman would be out until at least the international break but it would be a surprise if he features in the matchday squad for the Merseyside derby on Saturday.

Updates on the fitness of 3 other Liverpool players

Reserve goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher did not play against Union Saint-Gilloise in the second Europa League group match due to a knee problem.

Alisson Becker took his place in the team, and Kelleher was not named in the Republic of Ireland’s squad for their European Championship qualifiers against Greece and Gibraltar.

The 24-year-old will likely be targeting the match versus Toulouse later this month for his next appearance if he can recover full fitness in time.

A calf strain has kept Stefan Bajcetic out of action for a few weeks. The Spaniard has not featured in Liverpool’s last 4 games in all competitions. It was hoped that it was only a minor injury but, after not being included in Spain’s Under 21 squad during the most recent international break, the signs don’t look too promising.

Thiago Alcantara has had setback after setback after undergoing a hip operation at the back end of last season. The 32-year-old has not played a single minute this campaign and it is now believed that he won’t return before November. With his contract set to expire next year, it would be a shock if he remains at Anfield beyond the summer.
