Liverpool sent scouts to watch Hajduk Split defender Luka Vuskovic play for his club against AC Milan in the UEFA Youth League last week, according to reports in England.
The 16-year-old, who is already 6ft 5in tall, has made his senior debut but he started for the Under 19s as they won 2-1 in Geneva on Friday.
Vuskovic was not only watched by the Reds, with Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle also having representatives present for that game.
Hajduk Split are not expected to allow the teenager to leave on the cheap, with it being claimed that City have already proposed an offer worth £10m upfront, with another £2m in add-ons.
It remains to be seen whether any team will pay more than that for Vuskovic. While he is a very promising young centre-back, there are questions about his mobility and, after winning against Milan, his Hajduk Split team did lose 5-0 to AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Youth League final on Monday.
