REPORT: Ex City Star Among 3 Players That Liverpool Are Targeting If Salah Is Sold For £86M

Liverpool have added former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane to a three-man shortlist of targets if they do sell Mo Salah, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian website claims that the Egyptian international is “one step away” from signing for Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad for €100m (£86m) and the Reds are already looking at potential replacements.

In addition to Sane, it is believed that the likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi and Juventus’s Federico Chiesa are being considered as options.

Chiesa, in particular, is a long-term target for Liverpool and Calciomercato claim that Juve now “fear” losing the Italian international for €60m (£51m).

Ironically, for most of the summer, the Bianconeri have been trying to offload Chiesa, with the likes of Newcastle and Manchester United having also been linked, but it appears they don’t want to sell him now that the transfer window is about to close.

Klopp says Salah is not for sale

In his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, Jurgen Klopp was asked about Al-Ittihad’s interest in Salah. In response, the Reds boss said:

“There’s nothing to talk about from our point of view, Mo Salah is a Liverpool player, if there would be something the answer would be no.”

Liverpool will focus their efforts on signing another midfielder ahead of the transfer deadline

While the Merseysiders have brought in extra cover in midfield with the signing of Stuttgart captain Wataru Endo, the general feeling is that the club are still leaving themselves short in the middle of the park.

Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch is known to be on the club’s radar but Bayern are reportedly reluctant to sell the Dutchman, who they only signed from Ajax last summer.

Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure is thought to be the main alternative but, with the Eagles demanding as much as £70m, it is difficult to see a deal being agreed for the Malian international either.
