“There’s Been Contact…” Reporter Confirms That Liverpool Have Been Talking To Chelsea Star’s Agent

Liverpool have been in touch with the representatives of Chelsea defender Levi Colwill, according to journalist David Lynch.

Speaking on Redmen TV, Lynch said that Jurgen Klopp’s side have been talking to the England Under 21 international’s agent, and they could make a big offer if they get any signal that he is available:

“I know there’s been contact on the agents’ side, they’re keeping tabs on him. It’s one that if they get even the slightest bit of encouragement that they could do a deal with Chelsea I think they would pay a big fee for him.”

At this stage, Chelsea are not considering selling Colwill. They have even offered the 20-year-old a new contract to encourage him to stay at Stamford Bridge.

However, the centre-back is not expected to make a decision about his future until the European Under 21 Championships are over. England take on Israel in the semi-finals on Wednesday evening,

Colwill wants guarantees over his game time

After spending a season out on loan at Brighton, the defender is keen to be a regular starter in the Premier League next season.

It is expected that Colwill will have a conversation with Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino to gauge where he fits in his first-team plans before deciding what to do next.

Liverpool are in the market for a left-sided centre-back

Colwill does perfectly fit the type of profile that the Reds want in the centre of defence. They are keen to add a young left-footed player to their ranks and that is borne out in the other targets that the Merseysiders have been linked to in recent weeks.

Wolfsburg’s Ricky van de Ven was mentioned as an option earlier in the summer, although it looks as though he could join Tottenham instead. Sporting Lisbon’s Goncalo Inacio is also believed to be on the club’s radar.
