“It’s True” – £86M Rated Brazilian Ace Makes Claim About Liverpool Transfer

Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has confirmed that he did reject a move to Liverpool seven years ago.

The Brazilian international said he was all set to make the switch to Anfield but he opted to remain at Santos so he could play for the first team:

“We didn’t close the deal because I didn’t want to. I wanted to stay at Santos even though the offer was very good. The pathway they promised me would also have been very good for my career. I was going to finish my studies in England to prepare for European football.”

“It had always been my dream to play in Europe. Everything was very good, but my desire spoke louder. I wanted to stay at Santos and make a bit of history at the club. And that’s what happened: I was able to fulfil my dream of playing for Santos. But it’s true, I almost went to Liverpool.”

Rodrygo could still make the switch to England

With Kylian Mbappe set to join Real Madrid on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season, it has prompted speculation about Rodrygo’s future at the Bernabeu.

The 23-year-old is unlikely to get as much game time next campaign and it has been reported that Liverpool could revive their interest in the player.

However, the Reds won’t be the only Premier League pursuing Rodrygo, with Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United having also been mentioned as potential suitors.

Real are keen to keep hold of the forward

Despite the impending arrival of Mbappe, it is not believed that Real Madrid are looking to sell Rodrygo. While the winger is said to be valued at around €100m (£86m), they may opt to keep hold of him.

The forward has given no indication so far that he is looking to leave the La Liga club. In fact, reports suggest that he wants to stay in Spain.
