Liverpool are tracking Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, according to reports in both the English and Italian media.

The Uruguayan international has been in excellent form so far this season, scoring 23 goals in all competitions, and he is attracting interest from a whole host of teams.

West Ham reportedly had two bids rejected for Nunez last month, while Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle have all been mentioned as potential suitors over the last year.

It is believed that Benfica would hold out for a fee in the region of £55m for the 22-year-old, while the player himself is thought to be open to a move to Anfield.

Whether the Reds will look to firm up their interest in Nunez may depend on the futures of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah. The trio will have just twelve months left on their contracts in the summer and if one or more don’t sign extensions, a replacement may need to be brought in.
