“None Of Them Are Brilliant…” Ex Liverpool Star Makes Claim About Four Of The Reds’ Top Four Rivals

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy still believes that his former club have a chance of securing a top-four spot despite their poor form in the Premier League.

The Reds are currently eight points off the Champions League places, but Murphy is not convinced that the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle are better than Jurgen Klopp’s side:

“I still think they’ve got a chance because when you look at who they’re competing with, which is Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle, none of them are brilliant, none of them are consistent. You’re not watching Chelsea at the minute and thinking ‘oh they’re frightening me’ they’re all over the place, different formations, different personnel. [Manchester] United are steady, but they’re not going to scare you, they’re not going to go on a ten-game winning run which I think Liverpool can do.”

Murphy is definitely right to point out the failings in some of Liverpool’s top-four rivals but, at the moment, you would have to say that the Reds look like the worst team out of all of them, based on recent performances.

If Klopp’s men can put a run together after the World Cup, though, you do feel that Champions League qualification is still a realistic possibility. However, the main concern for supporters will be whether they will fall further behind in the battle for fourth with games coming up against Spurs and Southampton over the next ten days.
