Liverpool’s attempts to sign Ryan Gravenberch are likely to be blocked by Bayern Munich, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The journalist claims that, while the Reds have contacted the Dutchman’s representatives, their priority target is still Chelsea’s Mason Mount:
Ryan Gravenberch wants to play more, this is why Liverpool approached his agent. But Bayern have no intention to negotiate. 🚨🔴
Bayern position is very clear: they want to keep Gravenberch, feeling shared by the board and Tuchel.

Fans on Twitter are somewhat disappointed with this latest development, with many not keen on Mount being the alternative option:
Not him please

He’s no better than the players we’ve got. If he can’t even keep a permanent place at Chelsea, who are far inferior to Liverpool, why buy him???

Please God, no!!!

I firmly believe the main reason we want him is for the english quota 🤷🏻♂️

Gravenberch is unsettled at Bayern, as Romano points, and he is said to have held talks with Manchester United and Arsenal as well so, even if Bayern are determined to keep him, you can’t completely rule out a summer bid.
In terms of Mount, it should be pointed out that the England international is a very different player to Gravenberch. With Liverpool expected to sign a number of midfielders when the transfer window opens, there is a possibility that Jurgen Klopp’s side will pursue both Mount and Gravenberch at the end of the season.
