Paul Scholes Claims Liverpool Have Convinced Him That Only TWO Clubs Can Win The Premier League Title

Ex-Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes thinks Liverpool’s 5-0 demolition of his former club on Sunday will strike fear into their title rivals.

The Reds are a point behind Chelsea in the Premier League table, but Scholes feels that the Blues won’t be troubling Jurgen Klopp’s side, with Manchester City the only ones who will be able to compete with them:

“I think it’s a devastating day for the Premier League. Seeing Liverpool go to Old Trafford and win so convincingly, I think it will make City worry. Chelsea… I’m not sure, they have been great and I think they are better than I actually give them credit for but I think it’s between Liverpool and Manchester City. I think City watching that today, in the Champions League or the Premier League, that will frighten them.”

Scholes shared a similar view earlier this month, although it seems the former England international is now leaning towards Liverpool more than City in terms of who will finish top of the table.

Last weekend’s performance at Old Trafford has certainly laid down a marker, and it is now very important that they follow up that result with wins over Brighton and West Ham before the next international break.

First up, though, is Preston in the Carabao Cup fourth round this evening. The Merseyside club are expected to field a much-changed eleven for the trip to Deepdale.
