REPORT – Liverpool Tracking German International Marksman But Face Battle With Bundesliga Giants

Liverpool are interested in RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, according to reports in Germany.

Scouts from the Reds were believed to be present when Leipzig played Borussia Monchengladbach at the start of the month. No doubt they would have been impressed by what they saw with the German international scoring both goals in a 2-0 victory.

However, Liverpool will reportedly face competition if they want to secure a deal for Werner. Bayern Munich are also said to be very keen to recruit the 22-year-old.

The striker was asked whether he’d be interested in a move to the Bundesliga champions after the 1-0 defeat to the Bavarians on Wednesday night. He hinted that if he were to stay in Germany then there could be only one club he could leave Leipzig for.

Werner’s contract expires in 2020, and if he doesn’t sign an extension, his current employers will likely try to offload him next summer as he heads into the last 12 months of his current deal.
