Shearer Makes Controversial Top Four Claim As He Predicts Where Liverpool, Chelsea And Leicester Will Finish

Alan Shearer expects the top four to “stay as it is” with Chelsea and Leicester beating Liverpool to the Champions League places.

Speaking ahead of the Reds’ match against Burnley this evening, the BBC pundit explained his thinking by saying he can’t see Jurgen Klopp’s side winning their last two games:

“I think it might stay as it is. I think Liverpool will miss out, just. I know Burnley have looked like they have chucked the towel in already. But then Palace, with Roy’s last game and I know he has announced it today – I think they will miss out and I don’t think they will win their last two games.”

The trip to Turf Moor tonight will undoubtedly be a tough match. Although Burnley lost 4-0 at home last time out, they will have 3,500 fans in the ground for the first time this year so they will want to put on a show.

Even so, after Chelsea beat Leicester 2-1 last night, Liverpool will be motivated to get the three points. Their goal difference means a win would put them above the Foxes in the table going into the final day.

While Shearer also points to the Palace game being difficult, he does also forget to factor in that the Reds will have 10,000 supporters at Anfield, which will surely help them get over the line, if that is, they can also secure a victory tonight.
