Liverpool and Manchester United target Jurrien Timber is angling for a move away from Ajax this summer, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.
The journalist believes that the Netherlands international could fetch €50m (£44m) and the player is determined to leave Holland at the end of the season:
News #Timber: Ajax definitely wants to keep him as he’s their key player! In case of his transfer in summer his price valuation is around €50m at this stage! Ajax has no concrete offers for him yet. Timber wants to join a top club! @SkySportDE 🇳🇱 pic.twitter.com/fu2q9G4KO9

Virgil van Dijk is a huge fan of Timber, having described the centre-back as a “great player” earlier this season, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he has recommended the Ajax defender to the Reds’ recruitment team.
The fact that the 21-year-old can play at right-back would also help kill two birds with one stone. Liverpool lack experienced cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Timber’s defensive qualities would make him an ideal alternative.
It remains to be seen, though, whether the reported €50m price tag would put the Merseyside club off, considering a lot of the transfer budget could be devoted to reinforcing the midfield.
