“They Are Not In A Rush” Balague Reveals Latest Update On Liverpool’s Move For Champions League Winner

Liverpool are still quite a way from completing a deal to sign Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich, according to BBC columnist Guillem Balague.

There have been claims that the 29-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the Reds but Balague was adamant that is not the case. The former Sky Sports pundit believes it is not certain that the player will move to Anfield:

“What I am hearing is there is no four-year deal with Thiago in place, not yet. It hasn’t happened. They are not in a rush to agree on this yet. Basically it’s just a matter of admitting that Thiago is available and be well-positioned if something happens. That’s what I am hearing the situation is.”

“He may end up moving to Liverpool, but right now what I have been told is Thiago is not about to sign for Liverpool and there hasn’t been an agreement on a four-year deal with him, not yet.”

Arsenal were also linked with Thiago over the weekend and supporters will be hoping that Liverpool now step up their interest in the Spanish international following Bayern’s win over PSG in the Champions League final last night.

The Gunners would have to sell players to fund a bid for the midfielder and would also need to see Bayern lower their asking price for the player for a move to go ahead.

It means Jurgen Klopp’s side are still in the driving seat for Thiago but they may want to accelerate negotiations in order to prevent other teams from muscling in on the deal.
