“Wouldn’t Totally Rule Him Out…” Journalist Claims PL Rival Are Considering Move For 50M Rated Liverpool Target

Liverpool may face a serious challenge from Arsenal in the race to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The former Eurosport columnist claims that, if the Gunners fail in their attempts to snap up Leicester’s Youri Tielemans, they could decide to pursue the Ecuadorian international instead:

“I still expect a bid for Tielemans to go in [from Arsenal]. And on the back of that, if they don’t have any success with it, I wouldn’t totally rule him out, Caicedo.”

A number of other Premier League teams, including Manchester United, Chelsea and West Ham, have also been linked with Caicedo in recent days.

The 20-year-old has had an impressive start to the season but Brighton are expected to hold out for a fee in the region of £50m to sell him this summer.

Considering that Caicedo has only made 13 appearances for the Seagulls, that does seem to be a pretty excessive figure. It would, therefore, be surprising if Liverpool were prepared to pay that much.

In any case, manager Jurgen Klopp has all but ruled out any further signings before the transfer window closes, so the rumours about the Reds’ interest in Caicedo may be wide of the mark anyway.
