Journalist Reveals Liverpool Have “Warned” Agent Of French World Cup Winner After False Reports About PL Switch

Liverpool have gone as far as warning the agent of Ousmane Dembele not to “spread false rumours” about the Reds’ interest in the World Cup winner, according to CBS Sports‘ reporter Ben Jacobs.

The journalist claims that Moussa Sissoko has been using the name of Premier League teams such as Liverpool to try and get his client a better contract with Barcelona:

“It’s all coming from Sissoko to try to leverage, shock horror, right at the point when Dembele is in deep talks with Barcelona to get more. Liverpool laughed off the links and they actually said that they warned Sissoko to not spread false rumours about their interest. They were not interested in Dembele and they made that very clear that they were unhappy with the form of links being put out there.”

Dembele is actually now a free agent after leaving Barca, but there is still a possibility that he will re-join the Catalan club if a compromise can be reached on personal terms.

Chelsea are, however, said to be waiting in the wings if the France international can’t agree a new deal, but Liverpool have made it clear, in no uncertain terms, that they are not interested in recruiting the player.

Considering Mo Salah has just committed his future to the club, that is not a surprise whatsoever, so hopefully, that will put to bed any rumours relating to Dembele once and for all.
